"I came to this subject through my own experience with psilocybin at 68 — the age of many of the people in this film. What I witnessed changed me, and I knew I had to tell these stories."
About the filmmaker
Scott Paul Wright is a filmmaker, writer, and producer who arrived at cinema after two full careers — first as a celebrated radio personality and record industry executive, then as an award-winning winemaker and importer. He founded Wise Rabbit Films and has since made documentary work that places the human story at the centre of every subject it touches.
His debut feature, Three Days of Glory (2018, co-directed with David Baker), explored the impact of climate change and globalisation on small family vineyards in Burgundy, France. The film won Best Film at the IACP Awards.
He followed with John Waite: The Hard Way (2023), an intimate portrait of an ageing rock musician confronting a lifetime of disappointment during the COVID lockdown. The film earned a 100% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes and is now streaming on Prime Video across 60 markets.
With The Next Chapter, Wright brings both his filmmaking craft and something more personal: his own experience with psilocybin at 68 — a journey that prompted him to ask what healing can look like for people in the second half of life. The film is presented by Wake Network and produced through Wise Rabbit Films.
